You atheist really annoyed me
by confusedandalone inwhen i first came to this site.
whenever i would try to talk about somethign from the bible that the jw's got wrong or reason on a scripture that had so much feeling you would stomp all over it.
talking about "flying spaghetti gods" and laugh at what seemed to be my expense and then leave the thread never to return and add any substance.

seraphim...that was a good post. Except I'm not sure an atheist could deny another atheist, because neither believe in a god. And that is what atheism is. What else they may or may not believe in is besides the point.
There are atheists that believe in astrology, homeopathy, natural medicine etc. and others that don't. Both are still atheists if they don't believe in a god.
I hear what you are saying about some atheists being much broader in their non belief of anything without scientific evidence. But that is in addition to being an atheist. Not a varying degree of atheism....otherwise we could call christians atheists if it was by degree...because they don't believe in the other 30,000 possible gods, they only believe in one. They would predominantly be atheists by that definition.

I am interested in helping people escape the Watchtower cult not have meaningless debates.
They are NOT meaningless....I have learnt a GREAT DEAL from those debates. Some of them have really changed my life. They have inspired me to research for myself and ask questions I never would have thought of myself.
There are many ways people help people. One size does not fit all. Even the trinity debates that were on here when I first joined helped me to begin to think critically. There is nothing more valuable than hearing two sides of a debate. THAT is what is lacking with the WTS, its their side, and their side only. There is NO debate. You must accept the commonly held belief or bear the consequences.
These debates inspired me to watch other debates on youtube etc...debates between christians and atheists. These debates inspired me to read more books. Something would spark my interest and I would research it. There is no value that can be put on debate.

With master strokes of incomparable hypocrisy you alienate yourself from nearly all others on here.
Nonsense. Cofty makes very valuable contributions to this forum. He helps me to keep my mind honest. I value that reminder. It IS important to provide evidence. Not just for others that demand it...but for ourselves.
The only time I do not attempt to provide evidence to support what I am saying, is when I am simply exploring an idea and am interested in OTHERS views on a subject. But evidence is not all he asks for. He also provides logic most of the time, he doesn't just sit there going "show me the evidence" he normally contributes greatly to discussions with HIS evidence. For example the threads about evolution etc....they are invaluable. And he helps me to see things from a different perspective. I don't always agree with everything (that would just be odd to do that with ANYONE)...but I value that perspective.
I think some people can be far too precious about their ideas and beliefs.

It's good to by cynical punk. Not everything is true. You have to investigate. A quick look is not going to give you the information required. It takes time and effort. And like ohio pointed out. It often requires looking outside the box. (the commonly accepted belief).
Pick a topic....and investigate. You begin to see what is rubbish and what makes sense. Explore a topic thoroughly. Take note of where they overlap with other topics of interest. But try not to get too sidetracked. You can come back to that. Focus on what you want to know. And don't drop it until YOU are satisfied with your answer. Whatever it is.

You ever look into Contract Law and the UCC?
Can't say that I have truthhurts13
One of the topics is "Atlantica", which you would most likely find of great interest.
Really? Which particular one? I'm guessing it's not the snail they are talking about...
Atlantica, an ancient continent Atlantica (gastropod), genus of land snails in the family Discidae Atlantica-1, a submarine telecommunications cable system linking the USA, Bermuda, Venezuela and Brazil

Conspiracy Theories are a substitute religion.
Thats a very sweeping statement. ALL conspiracy theories? Like the ones that used to say that the govenment is spying on us? Or how about the ones that BELIEVED watergate was true? So they broke in and stole documents to prove what they were theorising? or People like Edward Snowden and other whistleblowers who release information confirming MANY conspiracy theories. How many 'theories' have come to light? And then thes whistleblowers are hunted down like criminals. When it is the government that are behaving like criminals.
How about the theory that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? THAT has to be the BIGGEST CONSPIRACY THEORY EVER INVENTED. But when the governnemt creates a bulls*it conspiracy theory and the country sends its troops to WAR for corporate greed...people don't say...pish...stupid conspiracy theorists. Maybe they should.
There is bulls*it everywhere...the problem is sorting through it all. And most of it actually originates FROM the government. But they don't label it conspiracy..they call it propaganda. Misinformation.

And if you could remove the power structure, what would/could you replace it with?
I would replace it with people who aren't intent on making as much money as they can whilst destroying our planet. I would replace it with a government like Icelands...or something similar. One that actually cares about human beings and not their own egos. It is possible. Just not with any of the major political parties we currently have. They are just corporate puppets. And need to go if we want ANY hope of passing on our planet to future generations. If they don't get overthrown very soon we are screwed.

And David Icke...as much as people love to dismiss him as a nut. Actually has some very good information about some things. But then, if you haven't checked it out. You will never know. And will just go on what others who haven't checked it ALL out say.
Label and dismiss. It's a mistake I won't make again. I check things out these days and make up my own mind.
The commonly held belief is not necessarily the correct one.
